The Jamaican government has suspended all customs and immigration regulations to allow stranded Jamaicans in Haiti to take two special flights out of Port-au-Prince.
The government hastily made arrangements late Thursday for two special Air Jamaica flights to airlift Jamaicans who have been trapped in the country.
The first flight was scheduled to leave Haiti Friday morning, while the other will leave at midday.
Information Minister Daryl Vaz told RJR News that Jamaicans who are in contact with their relatives in Haiti through email communication must advise them to go to the airport in Port-au-Prince.
"If they don't have their passport they should just go and identify themselves to the Air Jamaica crew and board the plane because there's no facility down there for immigration. It's important that they get there early, get through the chaos and get onto the tarmac so that when the Air Jamaica plane comes, they can get on board," he said.
